Loading forms--auto load (dual simplex mode)

Do this task when:

If you are unfamiliar with forms, see About forms and forms path.

The printers are designed to have forms loaded automatically using the Auto Load function.

This section provides step-by-step instructions for auto loading in dual simplex printing mode. Loading forms--semiautomatic load (dual simplex mode) contains instructions for loading forms manually. Loading forms--auto load (duplex mode) contains instructions for auto loading in duplex printing mode.

When you use either the Loading forms--auto load (duplex mode) or the Loading forms--semiautomatic load (dual simplex mode) procedure, you are instructed to follow some or all of the steps detailed here.

All messages that you respond to while doing this task appear on both the touchscreen panels and on the printer operator panel display. Most of the controls that you need to use are available on both the touchscreen panels and the printer operator panel. However, some are available only on the touchscreen panels.

This procedure describes using boxed, continuous forms that are loaded at the input area of the printer and processed through to the output stacker of the printer. If you are using preprocessing and/or postprocessing devices with the printer, the steps involving the continuous forms source and final destination change. The preprocessing or postprocessing device provider supplies specific instructions for the initial loading steps and forms leaving the stacker area. Also, if you are using roll-feed forms, you will bypass several steps of this procedure involving up or down fan-fold forms fold directions.

  1. The figures in this section illustrate tractored forms; however, most steps apply to tractored and tractorless forms unless otherwise specified.
  2. If the damper kit is installed, the Auto Load controls will not be available on the printer control panel. Therefore you cannot do this procedure.
<72> As you load forms, be careful to avoid injuries:

The tractor covers are spring-loaded and can pinch if they snap shut unexpectedly.

Moving forms, especially between the transfer station and the fuser entry area, can cause severe paper cuts.

To complete this task you must set the Forms Width at the stacker control panel. You must know the form length.

If you are using the same form, splice a new supply of forms to the trailing edge of the old supply at the splicing table. You do not need to use this procedure, even though you may have allowed the supply of forms to run out and to produce an 078A END OF FORMS message.

To load forms into the printer using the Auto Load function, go to At the touchscreen or the printer operator panel.
