Checking the toner collector

Do this task when you see the following message: 0787 CHECK TONER COLLECTOR.

  2. Do not switch power off to the printer during this procedure.

  1. From the rear of the printer, open the cover as shown.
  2. Ensure that the toner collector is pushed firmly to the rear of the toner-collector table.
  3. If you had just replaced the toner collector bottle or bag when this message appeared, try lowering and raising the toner-collector table by using the table lever if you have the Infoprint 4000. Try removing and replacing the toner collector if you have the Infoprint 4100.
  4. If you have not replaced the toner collector bottle or bag, replace it now. See Changing the toner collector.
If you lower the toner-collector table without replacing the bottle, the printer resets its counter and may cause an overflow of toner.
  5. Ensure that the toner-collector table is raised completely.
  6. Close the right rear cover of the printer.
  7. To resume processing, select Start on the printer operator panel or on the Main touchscreen panel.
<85>For printers with microcode levels, version 11.6.128 and higher, both printers and attached pre and postprocessing equipment can be started from the main panel of the printer console and the printer operator panels. Visually assure that no other personnel are working on the system before starting the system.
  8. If the CHECK TONER COLLECTOR message appears again, repeat steps 1 through 6. If that still does not correct the problem, contact your service representative. See Service call procedure for instructions.
